I know at least a few of the people who are on my friends list game in one respect or another and now I've got a question for you.
I've recently started playing on a RP-centric Neverwinter Nights 2 server, and, seeing as I was basically a RP-virgin 2 weeks ago when I first started on that server, I was hoping some of you had suggestions of how to develop characters, and tips and tricks for successful role playing. Do you have any favored readings? Hints for a newbie? Other pearls of wisdom for me?
Thanks!

New England's been plastered with 2 big snowstorms this weekend, dropping at least 24" of snow, and counting. We've got two Aussies, who absolutely adore the snow. They've been outside all day for hours at a time. When we've finally dragged them back in side, it's not even 5 minutes until they're begging to go back out!

Pippin says: I gots the Frisbee and you can't catch me! Nyah!
Then Nemo gets the frisbee and...

Nemo: Haha, I got the frisbee now, Pippin, whacha gunna do about it!?!

Nemo: Look, Mum, I gots it!

Pipping standing still for just a moment...

...but standing still doesn't last long before he's back off to the races!

History in the making. 1 million people in Grant Park. Listening to President-Elect Barack Obama I'm filled with hope. So full of hope, he reminds me of FDR and Bobby Kennedy. He is going to be great. A great man, A great leader, a Great Man, the likes of which we haven't seen in this position in a very very long time.

That's it, it's over folks. With OH being called, and CNN having 207 electoral votes for Obama, with out CA, OR, WA, or HI (another 77 votes), it's shored up. Obama has over 284 votes. He's won!
This is history in the making, folks! The first black man as president. Record turnout, the likes of which we haven't seen, percentage of eligible voters wise, since 1908 or before.
I see potential to be a great president, on the order of FDR, and I hope he's able to pull it off.
For now, I'm ecstatic. The champagne has been broken out and I am so relieved and excited!

Everyone remember to vote today!
I voted this morning (For Obama/Biden). I was voter number 111 for my precinct at 8am, which considering it's TINY and usually has very few voters, is amazing.
I'm so excited, today is the cumulation of a very historic election, and I can't wait to see the results. I'm sure I'll be up terribly late tonight and hopefully celebrating. :D

I just watched Barak Obama’s acceptance speech. I’m impressed. Up til this point, he hasn’t impressed me, but after tonight, I’m beginning to think that maybe, just maybe, he can pull off the change he speaks of. Perhaps, just perhaps, if (no, when) Mr. Obama becomes president, there will be an administration in place who’s ideals are not completely foreign to my own, and who actually has the good of the common man and the country in mind. Perhaps, just perhaps, we aren’t completely fucked.
Up until tonight, my cynicism had thoroughly gotten the better of me; having spent the vast majority of my adult life in Massachusetts — one of the most corrupt states in the country — it’s hardly surprising. Until tonight, I was convinced Mr. Obama was just another pie-in-the-sky dreamer, spouting pretty words, hopes and dreams, with no realistic idea of how to make them reality nor any grasp of the work and struggle needed to do so. After tonight’s speech, I’m far more confident he understands how enormous a task it will be to accomplish even a fraction of the change he desires to bring to our country. Tonight, as he annihilated McCain with his own words, he finally seemed to have grown into the office he’ll be elected to in November. I finally felt like I was watching a great leader, the likes of which I’ve never seen (alive) in American politics.
I’m hopeful. I’m actually hopeful about the future of this country and our leadership. I haven’t been hopeful about either in a very very long time. I had given up. I was convinced there was no good fight left to fight. After tonight, I’m not quite so sure that’s true, and it feels good.

I'm glad the partners I had put up with my complete and utter clumsiness and inability to tell left from right. I had a lot of fun. It was also very dizzying.

Oh, will the RAMPANT dishonesty never end? Stupid bitch, just say you'd never vote for a black man and get it overwith. Scumsucking, toad-licking lowlife.
No, Obama's NOT Muslim. He didn't got to a madrassa, just take a quick peek at snopes, forget actually reading a credible news source!

[R]eporting by CNN in Jakarta, Indonesia and Washington, D.C., shows the allegations that Obama attended a madrassa to be false. CNN dispatched Senior International Correspondent John Vause to Jakarta to investigate.
He visited the Basuki school, which Obama attended from 1969 to 1971.
"This is a public school. We don't focus on religion," Hardi Priyono, deputy headmaster of the Basuki school, told Vause. "In our daily lives, we try to respect religion, but we don't give preferential treatment."
I didn't post this when I ran across it months ago, though I was definitely enthralled. JayG's post yesterday about the exoskeleton being developed in Haifa that's enabling paraplegics to walk with crutches spurred my memory.
BoingBoing had a post about the Neruobotics talk given at The New Yorker Conference this past May. Yoky Matsouka, who is the director of the neurorobotics lab @ UWashington, gives an amazing presentation about the fledgling field of neurobotics. Neurobotics is the intersection of robotics, neuroscience, and prosthetics. I'm completely fascinated. It's things like this that make me wish I'd been a bit more adventurous in college, cause I'd LOVE to get my fingers in it now.

I'm thrilled Obama picked Biden. Biden's going to add long experiance in national politics, strength in foreign relations and national security. He was my inital pick back at the beginning of the primaries. Also his son, who is a Captain in the National Guard is being delpoyed to Iraq in October.
I think Biden brings stability and experiance to a ticket I feared would be flighty and know to be inexperianced. I was thinking he'd get the Sec. State position, but VP I'm quite happy about.

One of my favorite authors had a new short story published on tor.com today. I've loved everything I've read of Cory Doctorow. Loved the latest novel, Little Brother. I'll go into that another time.
Today, The Things That Make Me Weak and Strange Get Engineered Away was published on Tor. Yet another interesting and geeky vignette. Hardcore geeks as monks, sequestered from the world. Interesting read, go give it a try.

I was talking in channel with some of the geek boys about movies and such and we got onto the unrealism of Hackers. Heh. Fake as it was, it did spark my geekiness into tech, at least somewhat. But what I love most is Angelina Jolie before she was big, as a dykeish, h4ck3r ch1xx0r. YUM. Plus the cyber industrial club-scene/fashion sense. Rar. Yum. heheh.
